Otwin - OLD, odd guitar - please help identify

I picked up an odd and very old Otwin guitar. Searching every corner of the web has not given me any clue as to date of origin or original purpose... I hope sombody here is able to help.

The guitar is quite short - body AND neck, appr. 10 cm. shorter than my ordinary weatern guitar. On the body is a silver logo with the words "orig. Marathon" and with the five rings of the Olympic logo. I'm thinking: The Berlin Olympics 1936??? It definitely looks that old!
