Can you please tell me more about Joachim Wunderlich of Markneukirchen? Here is a photo of a 1955 violin:

1) was he independent? if not, what company did he work for in Markneukirchen?

2) did he export his violins outside of the DDR?

I'm still in investigation. But in my opinion there never worked a violin maker Joachim Wunderlich in Markneukirchen. I do not know him in the list of Markneukirchen violin maker. May be this was a trade mark of a company here.

Or this name only was in use for exporting to the NSW means "Nichtsozialistisches Wirtschaftsgebiet" (non-socialist economic area). There was a special dealer "Demusa" only for that exports.

in the meantime I asked an elderly colleague. He confirmed that there never worked a violin maker Joachim Wunderlich in Markneukirchen or around. And he also confirmed that "Demusa" company used such fantasy label for export.
