I was given a short while ago an Oscar Adler Sopranino Saxophone. It was only just playable and I have decided to renovate it back to its fully playable condition.
It has stamped on the bell "Oscar Adler & Co" and directly underneath 'MARKNEUKIRKEN I.S."
It also has a serial number of "3483", an engraving of a J written on top of a C, and a worn stamp.
I cannot attach pictures due to size limitations. If you wish to see these, please go to Facebook Group, 'THE SAXOPHONE FORUM', they will be posted on there.
The Sopranino was played by a famous musician many years ago, John R.T Davies, in a band called "The Temperance Seven", and had been passed onto me to return to playing condition, by his adult daughter, who would like to see it used again.
I would very much like to know any history you might have on this instrument, when and where it was made etc, if you might have this information, and would be so kind and to share it with me.
I have been directed to this forum from the Museum and would be very grateful to you if you could help!
Thank you in advance for any help you can give!
Yours sincerely, pymason
